The newest, most unique model to Volvo’s lineup is the new C40 Recharge. It’s the first model and bodystyle to be launched as a full EV; the XC40 Recharge, for which it is based off of, is a variant of the gas powered XC40. The C40’s unique shape and lines definitely turns heads while the interior receives new technology that Volvo will introduce to the model range in the years ahead. Based on the same CMA (Compact Modular Architecture) as the XC40, the vehicles actually share quite a bit of components and even drivetrains. In fact, the front end, all the way to the front doors, is nearly identical to the XC40. Positioned as a more premium offering, the C40 shows off the stylish fastback roof, new Android Automotive infotainment system with integrated Google Maps, and new interior materials choices.

Available exclusively online only, sold as only a single model in Ultimate trim, the C40 Recharge is equipped with a dual motor AWD layout, providing 402 horsepower and 486 lb-ft of torque. 0-60 happens in about 4.3 seconds and the 75 kWh battery gives about 226 miles of range. It’s capable of 150 kW fast charging, which while slower than some other competitors, is still fast enough to allow a 10% to 80% charge in about 35 minutes. Unique to the C40, it’s the first Volvo model to be completely leather-free. The interior is detailed by striking yet subtle backlit trim panels on the dashboard and doors, which are softly illuminated that show a topographic map.
